The CIT program is teaching me leadership skills and preparing us for our futures. Camp is fun and I keep coming back for my friends.

At Camp Tommy…
Youth, ages 15-17, participate in leadership development and skill building workshops as part of two programs: Leaders-in-Training (LIT) for youth age 15 and Counselor-in-Training (CIT) for youth ages 16-17. Both programs require an application and interview process. Participants that complete program expectations are eligible for stipends.
The Leaders-in-Training program focuses on social-emotional learning, personal growth and understanding what it means to be a leader. LITs commit to 2 consecutive sessions. They attend Sessions 1 & 2 or Sessions 3 & 4. Participants who complete program expectations are eligible for a $200 stipend.
The Counselor-in-Training program provides an important transition supporting campers and helping them on their journey from camper to staff. CITs develop leadership and communication skills and participate in team-building activities. CITs act as role models to our younger campers and prepare to become staff by developing professional skills and shadowing camp staff. CITs commit to attending all four sessions. Participants who complete program expectations are eligible for an $800 stipend.
The camp is named after Tommy Hilfiger for his generous support.
I really love the friends that I have made here, getting to learn new things, going hiking and doing team-building activities. This summer I’m a CIT for the first time, so I’m excited to connect with the campers, create the safe space they deserve and be the role model that my counselors were for me.
Kailey, 16, Counselor-in-TrainingThis is my first year as a CIT, I’ve been waiting for years to be one. I’m excited.
